Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)

Principle:

Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) is used to detect surface-breaking defects in non-porous materials. A liquid penetrant is applied to the surface, allowed to seep into defects, and then removed. A developer is applied to draw the penetrant out, making defects visible under normal or UV light.

Applications:

  • Inspection of welds, castings, and machined parts
  • Detection of cracks, laps, and porosity in metals, plastics, and ceramics
  • Used in industries such as aerospace, automotive, structural fabrication, etc.
