Seismic Accelerometers KB12 – KS48C

Overview

Highly sensitive single-axis seismic accelerometers are instruments designed for the precise acquisition of low-frequency vibration signals, essential for the dynamic monitoring of buildings exposed to continuous vibration phenomena.

These sensors, based on piezoelectric (PZT – Ceramic) technology, offer high sensitivity, making them ideal for detailed vibration analysis. Available in an IEPE version, they are suitable for continuous and dynamic monitoring of buildings subject to structural motion and vibration, enabling precise assessment of the building’s stability and safety over time.

Seismic Accelerometers – Monaxial, High Sensitivity (Low Frequency)

Seismic single-axis accelerometers with high sensitivity for acquiring low-frequency vibration signals.
The sensors belong to the category of piezoelectric (PZT – Ceramic) sensors.

Their high sensitivity makes them suitable for analysis and dynamic monitoring of buildings particularly subject to continuous vibrational phenomena.
Both models are available in the IEPE version.

TYPICAL FREQUENCY RESPONSE AND ACOUSTIC EMISSIONS

Typical Frequency Response

  • KB12VD and KS48C show the percentage deviation of the output signal (Bua(f)) as a function of frequency (Hz).
The graphs indicate a flat response across most of the frequency range, with a rise near the upper limit — typical of piezoelectric accelerometers.

Acoustic Emissions

  • The noise graphs (in µg) display the self-noise level versus frequency (Hz).

  • Both KB12VD and KS48C exhibit extremely low noise, confirming their suitability for low-frequency vibration and seismic measurements.

Mounting and Insulating Flange for KB12VD (Standard Accessory)

  • Countersunk holes with PVC insulating washers for mounting.

  • M3 cylinder-head screws used to fix the accelerometer base.

  • Provides mechanical stability and electrical insulation from the mounting surface.
