EloScan

The inspection of aircraft engines imposes high requirements on the probes used for the test, e.g. regarding sensitivity and resolution. Additionally, due to the complex geometry and small dimensional tolerances of the engine components, a high positioning accuracy and a high repeatability of the guiding system is needed. So, with regard to the existing variety of different engine types, it is essential to develop flexible automated solutions, which necessarily are based on a robotic system.

Features:

Universal Design for Different Applications
  • designed for the eddy current testing of rotating symmetric components of aircraft engines
  • the system also can be used for the inspection of other complex components where the probe must be guided precisely along or inside the part (e.g. turbine blades)
  • allows fast bore hole inpections using the rotor System SR-1
  • automatic tool changing
  • integrated reference blocks

Trend-setting Functionalities
  • way-based data recording (precise scanning also for complex geometries)
  • excellent repeatability of the C-scans
  • wide range of off-line tools and evaluation functions (e.g. blank out of background data) while strictly maintaining the raw data
Exceeding the GEAE-Specifications
  • the EloScan system fulfils all and exceeds many of the technical requirements of the GEAE-specification(„Technical Specification for Computer-Controlled Semi Automatic Eddy-Current Scanning System for Life Limited Parts Program, Specification: FST-Generic Eddy Current“)
Approved for Standard Practice Manuals
  • SPM 70-38-15 and SPM 70-32-23
  • SPM 70-38-13 and SPM 70-32-07
  • SPM 70-38-11 and SPM 70-32-10
Powerful Robot Software
  • numerous templates for basic handling sequences
  • easy teaching of positions
  • off-line programming via CAD-CAM post processor (option)
  • off-line simulation und collision avoidance (option)

Further Developments and New Features
  • optical system for part and sensor recognition, option (connection to the robot controller via FieldBus)
  • tactile sensors for precise part localization (infrared interface)
  • NEW: “Balance on the Fly“. This improvement is based on the new digital connection of the robot controller with the Elotest eddy current instrument. It is capable to halve the cycle time for inspections acc. to SPM 70-38-15 und SPM 70-32-23.
