Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) is a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Evaluation (NDE) method for detecting surface and slightly subsurface discontinuities (cracks and defects). A magnetic field is induced into ferromagnetic materials, with fine or course Magnetic Particles applied to the magnetized part, particles are attracted to and outline the edges of magnetic-leakage fields created by discontinuities.
