Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) Testing

Overview

ULTRASONIC PULSE VELOCITY (UPV) TESTING is a non-destructive testing (NDT) method used to assess the quality, uniformity, and integrity of concrete and other materials. It is
widely applied in construction, civil engineering, and infrastructure projects to evaluate
structural soundness and detect defects such as cracks, voids, and honeycombing.

Applications:
  • Assessing concrete quality: UPV testing helps determine the uniformity and relative quality of concrete.
  • Detecting defects: It can identify internal flaws such as cracks, voids, and honeycombing.
  • Estimating crack depth: UPV can be used to estimate the depth of surface-breaking cracks.
  • Monitoring structural changes: It can track changes in the condition of structures over time.
